Accounts & transactions
How balances stay honest, and how to record the day-to-day without entering anything twice.
How balances work
- An account is its starting balance plus every transaction you’ve recorded — nothing more.
- Sundry never guesses or syncs; if a balance looks off, there’s a transaction to find, and Search will find it.
Record an expense or income
- Tap + on the Overview tab, or long-press the app icon on your Home Screen for a shortcut straight into the form.
- Pick the account, enter the amount, and choose or type a payee.
- Add a note when the payee alone won’t jog your memory later.
Transfers done right
- Moving money between your own accounts is a Transfer, not an expense — one entry updates both sides.
- Pay a credit card with a transfer from checking: the card’s balance falls, checking falls, and nothing double-counts as spending — the spending happened when you swiped the card.
Marks, colors, and photos
- Accounts and payees each carry a mark: a symbol on a colored badge, or a photo you choose.
- Photos are picked with Apple’s photo picker — Sundry only ever sees the single picture you hand it.
Read the trend chart
- The Overview chart draws one line per account, in that account’s color.
- Switch between a month, a year, or a custom range to see how each balance has moved.
